Brand Name Check Support

Check domain and social handle availability for your brand name.

How to Use Brand Name Check

  1. Enter a name. Type a username or brand name in the search field and tap Check. The name must contain only letters, numbers, and hyphens, with no leading or trailing hyphens. Domain names are automatically lowercased (DNS is case-insensitive); social handles are shown with the casing you entered, since some platforms distinguish case.
  2. Review domain results. Each of the 11 TLDs (.com, .net, .org, .io, .app, .dev, .co, .ai, .me, .xyz, .tech) shows Available or Taken. A ✓✓ badge means two independent RDAP sources agreed, indicating high confidence. A ⚠ Verify label means the sources disagreed — check at a registrar before purchasing.
  3. Check social handles. The Social section lists all 12 supported platforms. Tap any row to open that platform's profile page for your name and verify handle availability yourself. After checking, tap the Mark / Free / Taken chip on the right of each row to record what you found — Mark (default), Free (available), or Taken (already claimed). Tap the chip repeatedly to cycle between states. Status resets automatically when you search a new name.
  4. Retry if needed. If any domains could not be checked due to a network issue, a Retry button appears. Tap it to re-run only the failed checks — successful results are preserved.

Frequently Asked Questions

What TLDs does Brand Name Check support?

The app checks availability for these 11 TLDs: .com, .net, .org, .io, .app, .dev, .co, .ai, .me, .xyz, and .tech.

How does domain availability checking work?

Each domain is queried against two independent RDAP sources simultaneously — rdap.org (an IANA-bootstrap relay) and the registry's own endpoint. When both sources agree, a ✓✓ badge is shown for high confidence. When they disagree, the result is shown conservatively as Taken with a ⚠ Verify prompt. Only HTTP status codes are used — no personal or registrant data is read.

Does the app open social platform pages automatically?

No. The Social section shows a row for each of the 12 supported platforms. Tap the row to open that platform's profile page for your name in your browser or the platform's app. The app cannot check social handle availability programmatically because social platforms do not provide a public availability API.

A social platform shows a login prompt or "try again later" when I open several profiles — is this a bug?

No. Some platforms (X, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, Facebook, etc.) may show a login prompt or a temporary access limit if you open several profiles in a short time. This is the platform's own behavior and is outside this app's control — it is not a bug in this app. Please use each platform in accordance with its own terms of service and at your own discretion, and avoid opening a large number of pages in a short time. If you hit a limit, wait a little before trying again.

What is the Mark / Free / Taken chip on each social row?

It is a manual status tracker. After visiting a platform to check the handle, tap the chip to record what you found: Free means the handle is available, Taken means it is already claimed, and Mark is the default (not yet checked). Tap the chip repeatedly to cycle through the three states. Status resets automatically when you search a new name.

Are domain results accurate?

Results reflect the state of the RDAP registries at the time of the check and are cached for 5 minutes. "Available" means no registration record was found, but premium or restricted domains may still be unavailable or priced higher at registrars. Always confirm with a registrar before purchasing.

Is there a difference between the App Store version and the Web version?

Both versions share the same core functionality. The App Store version is optimized for iPhone and iPad. The Web version runs in any modern browser on any device. On the Web version, domain queries are routed through a server-side proxy, which avoids browser CORS restrictions and provides consistent results across platforms.

Does the app collect my personal data?

The app does not collect or store any personal information. The domain names you enter are sent to RDAP servers to check availability; they are not stored or logged by zikimit. On iOS, ads are served by Google AdMob, which may use advertising identifiers. See the Privacy Policy for details.
